Tony Brenner

Managing Partner, Pivot Point Capital

Mr. Brenner founded Pivot Point Capital in 2005 and served as Managing Partner from 2005 to 2019, bringing experience and expertise derived from more than 30 years of making venture capital, private equity and small cap public investments. Following the return of outside investor capital at Pivot Point Capital, Mr. Brenner converted Pivot Point Capital into the Brenner family office, where he is focused on managing investments on behalf of the Brenner Family. He also serves as Chairman of Advantage Alpha Capital (where he also chairs the Investment Committee). Advantage Alpha Capital is a registered investment advisor led by Raj Moorthy (Mr. Brenner’s co-founder at Pivot Point Capital) that implements a market neutral, equity long-short strategy based on insights garnered from Pivot Point Capital.

Prior to founding Pivot Point Capital, Mr. Brenner spent nearly five years as a Managing Director at Crosslink Capital leading all venture capital investment activity for the firm in the services sector. Prior to joining Crosslink Capital, Mr. Brenner founded two successful investment firms, Advanta Partners and Cedar Point Partners. Both firms focused on growth investments and leveraged buyouts across a variety of sectors. In several cases, Mr. Brenner held either CEO or Chairman's roles in portfolio companies undergoing significant change. He was the third investment professional recruited to Centre Partners, the private equity affiliate of Lazard Freres. Immediately following business school, Mr. Brenner worked as a small cap analyst at Andron Cechettini & Associates.

Apart from the investment world, Mr Brenner devotes significant time to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), AIPAC and No Labels. In addition, Mr. Brenner has been an active member of YPO since 1989 and has held multiple officer roles in the YPO San Francisco Gold Chapter.

Joe Welsh

Chief Administrative Officer & Chief Compliance Officer

Mr. Welsh has served as CAO and CCO of Pivot Point Capital from 2014-2019. Following the return of outside investor capital, Mr. Welsh handled the wind down of Pivot Point Capital. Mr. Welsh continues to support Mr. Brenner as Pivot Point Capital transitions to a family office for the Brenner family.

Prior to joining Pivot Point Capital, Mr. Welsh spent the past six years as the CFO at Alesco Global Advisors (Alesco), a real estate-focused Registered Investment Adviser offering hedge funds, mutual funds and private partnerships, which was acquired by Grubb & Ellis and subsequently bought by Lazard Asset Management. During his last year at Alesco, Joe served as chief operating officer of Lazard’s Global Real Estate Group. While at Alesco, Joe was responsible for legal, accounting, tax, compliance, technology infrastructure, human resources and facilities. Prior to joining Alesco, Joe spent seven years with Presidio Management, a Registered Investment Adviser with three domestic and one offshore hedge funds, where he served as their chief financial officer / chief compliance officer.
